About Vladanka

Vladanka Mitrovic, ALMFT(she/her/hers) is an Associate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who works with individuals, couples, families, children, adolescents, and adults. She offers a thoughtful, relational approach to therapy and has experience supporting LGBTQ+ clients and individuals across the lifespan.

Earlier in her career, Vladanka worked as a teacher and psychologist in Serbia, including in foster care and residential settings serving children and youth with diverse emotional, developmental, and learning needs. Her experience also includes work in substance use treatment settings, where she supported individuals in building structure, stability, and functional coping skills.

Vladanka is especially interested in helping clients navigate life transitions, relationship challenges, and emotional stress with care, curiosity, and collaboration. She has completed Gottman Level 1 training and is currently enrolled in Gottman Level II, supporting her work with couples seeking to strengthen communication, connection, and understanding.

She is fluent in Serbian and English and values creating a therapy space that feels supportive, respectful, and culturally responsive. Vladanka approaches her work with warmth, thoughtfulness, and a strong commitment to helping clients feel seen and understood.

Education

Vladanka earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University Worldwide and completed her clinical training at East Aurora Counseling, where she worked with a wide range of presenting concerns. She also brings a strong background in educational and child focused settings, including her work as a substitute teacher with Addison School District 4.

Certifications and Fluencies

  • Vladanka has completed Gottman Level I and enrolled in Gottman Level II. She integrates Gottman-informed approaches to help individuals, couples, and families strengthen communication, deepen emotional understanding, and build more fulfilling relationships.

  • Vladanka has completed the National LGBTQ+ Curriculum (Part I) through OutCare Health, a nationally recognized training focused on providing affirming, inclusive, and culturally responsive care to LGBTQ+ individuals and families

  • Vladanka is a member of Postpartum Support International.

  • Vladanka is fluent in English, Serbian, Bosnian and Croatian and can provide therapy in these languages.

Vladanka’s mission is to walk alongside individuals, couples, and families as they navigate change, relationships, and emotional challenges. With a thoughtful and collaborative approach, she helps clients understand relational patterns, build stronger communication, and develop greater emotional awareness in support of healing and growth.

Outside Of Work

Outside of work, Vladanka enjoys poetry, psychology, and philosophy, and finds balance through movement and time outdoors. She practices karate, enjoys gardening, and values music as a way to unwind and stay grounded.
